THE QUEEN WHO WOULD BE KING    2015     CONTACT DETAILS: Artist:Eanna Email: Eanna74@outlook.com   DETAILS OF ARTWORK:Media: water colour paints, ink, graphite and pen. Dimensions: Width: 490mm/ Height: 650mm    ARTISTS STATEMENT:   This is a modern interpretation of Hatshepsut who was the longest reigning female Pharaoh in Egypt ruling for more than 20 years and is considered one of the most successful Pharaohs.  I felt inspired to create a piece of work about such a charismatic and beautiful woman who in her own right and was able to command enough of a following to take control as Pharaoh, even dressing like a man to quell the fears of her people.  After her death, Thutmose 111 began a campaign to eradicate her memory, destroying or defacing her monuments and erasing her many manuscripts. In all Hatshepsut accomplished what no woman had before her. She ruled the most powerful and advanced civilization in the world.  Even if there were some who resented her success she will stand for all eternity as   THE QUEEN WHO WOULD BE KING.
